"Nothing...let's get out of here." She sighed and headed off to the sanctuary.

Liac could sense something was up with Makiri. As he took a walk with Alex in the snowy park, he tried to contact him.
'what the hell are you doing? You're sending out waves of murderous intent like a beacon! Anything even slightly telepathic within a mile will see you coming!'
'really? I hadn't noticed.'
'don't be smug with me! Answer my question!'
'i'm hunting.'
A rush of freezing air blasted past Liac and Alex. It seemed to slither all over the place, whipping past random individuals but never staying long.
'and what ARE you?!?'
'I got a new form. Like it?'
His voice was venomous, and Liac flinched as he spoke.
'stop it! What the hell are you hunting that could be this important?'
'not important, just in need of extermination.'
'you didn't answer me!'
'and i'm not going to.'
'that means you know i'll try to stop you if I know, meaning it is someone I know.'
'shut up. You talk too much.'
'Gabriel?'
'maybe.'
'Christian?'
'maybe.'
Liac hissed angrily. Alex brushed the snow form the wind off of her and looked at him expectantly.
“don't get involved. It's too dangerous.”
She held her stare.
“i'm not going to tell you just because you look at me like that.”
She took a knife out and threw it at Liac's paw. He was able to move it out of the way just in time and it crunched into the tightly packed snow.
“that was Makiri, wasn't it?”
“you can tell?”
“it's fairly obvious. He's the only one that can make you angry. What is he doing?”
“he's on a blood hunt. I still don't know what he's hunting though.”
Makiri took the opportunity to stop right in front of them. His form shifted out of its cloak and people started to stare and gawk at the giant ferret thing. He bent his huge head down and stared at Alex. His voice was deep and rumbling, and he sounded viciously mad. He tired to mask it with a mock-polite voice.
“do you know where my dear friend Gabriel is?”
His gold eyes burned into hers. She looked annoyed and flicked his sensitive nose. He flinched, and for a second, contemplated snapping her in two with his powerful jaws, but he needed to know.
“it depends on whether you you're going to kill him or not.”
“which would you prefer?”
The glint in his eyes told her he neither cared nor wanted to care. He just asked to humor her.
“rumor has it, there is a hotspot for murderers somewhere on the avenue a little outside the city. If you can find it, then by all means, do what you want with him.”
“how thoughtful of you. Thank you.” He hissed.
He was about to leave when Alex pulled at one of his feathery gills. He turned back around, glaring at her.
“take Liac.”
She picked the fox up and placed him on Makiri's broad shoulders.
“don't let him get carried away now. I don't want to fill out any paperwork on why half the city burst into flames and i'm the only one who knew why.”
Liac nodded and Makiri barely took notice. The next second, he was gone again. This time, in the right direction.

Makiri walked silently down the small, stepping stone path that lead through the park. He was in the form of a jackal, with oily black fur slicked back and razor yellow eyes. It was the middle of the night, and only the moon was with him for company.
He wandered aimlessly, patrolling the darkness with his piercing gaze. He loved to just walk and not think about anything here. The trees and the fresh air calmed him, but he had not gotten the chance in a long time. too busy with what not. He slipped under the tree that he had first met Christian at and lay down idly, the soft, cold breeze ruffling the leaves.
He hadn't seen Christian since Gabriel died. how would he react to something like that? he did seem attached to him. it might even worsen his already frail condition. whatever. he didn't care anyways. he lay his head on his paws and watched the moon sail over the sky. it was full tonight.

Makiri opened his eyes and bright sunlight blinded him. He got up slowly and realized he had fallen asleep during the night. That wasn't like him.
As his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw that people had resumed their normal lives all around him. Children played, ducks squawked, an old man was feeding bread crumbs to pigeons. Everyone seemed so happy and carefree going about their business. It made him sick.
As he was retching, a toddler came up behind him and grabbed his tail tightly, yelling "doggie!" He spun around and growled at the impudent little pile of meat and it fell down and started to cry. The mother, who had been gossiping with another parent had gotten up and was coming over, trying to soothe the blubbering child.
She picked him up and started to wave her free hand threateningly around at Makiri, trying to shoo him away. He snarled menacingly and stood his ground. The woman's eyes were starting to cloud over with worry. She stepped away slowly, calming the toddler and fled. Makiri sat back down and let the sun warm his fur. If he had not wanted to relax so much, he probably would have ripped her trachea out in front of her little brat, just for a laugh. Some other people had seen what had happened and they were looking at him with concern. He ignored them and lay back down. No need for drastic measures, just a bit of a scare would do, the thought, as he let the warm sun and the breeze lull him back to sleep.

Makiri woke again. This time, it was a little later in the day. He got up and looked around. none of the original people were there. Instead, new ones were wandering around, completely ignoring him. He turned into a squirrel with black, frizzy fur and red eyes. The squirrel hopped into the tree and went to its very top. He could see for a few miles out, but his squirrel eyes weren't as good as his demon ones. He was bored. Where the hell was Christian? Why the hell did he care? He slid back down to the ground and tuned into an enormous snake. The snake's body was at thick as the tree trunk next to it, and as it slithered along, people started to scream and run. The snake picked a fat man that was lagging behind the mob of people to swallow whole. After his meal, Makiri turned into a hawk and started wheeling around in the air, scaring more people as he dived with his claws outstretched. He wasn't enjoying this much.... The bird perched on one of the tops of the branches of the tree and preened its featherers boardly. He needed something interesting to do...
